Choir Unfriendly Church Sanctuary - Trinity Methodist Church

Dont' be alarmed what you are going to read, it is purely my personal opinion and sharing out of longstanding frustration and irritation with our new church sanctuary when it comes to sunday choir presentation.

Today the piano music via the feedback speakers was so loud as if we were singing in a rock concert and we were basically drowned in the exuberant piano syncopation and could barely hear our own voices. Not due to Connie coz she played remendously well but someone turned the volume up so much that the congregation could not appreciate the song well.

Alas! Yes, another sunday anthem badly affected by the audio output.

Just fortnight ago sunday anthem encountered the similar problem, the big speakers on the right side facing the congregation were NOT SWITCHED ON! They came on midway thru Ps Wong's preaching. The quality was severely affected. We felt like singing in a vacuum. We were not the only group affected coz when I came to English Service, Ps Chin/Wong encountered even worse problem, their microphone failed during prayer and sermon!

So sad, they prepared sermon and yet we could not hear if mic/speakers don't work properly. Equally sad, we spent at least one month practising a song if the sound system fails us on the actual presentation.

That's why after almost 2 years of conducting choir in this church and church sanctuary, I call it `Choir Unfriendly Church Sanctuary - Trinity Methodist Church'. I guess the architect who designed this church should hear this feedback.

Sincerely and yet disappointed,

Sie Hing

(Here is the example from today presentation.)
